    Description

The Gibson Limited-Edition Les Paul Standard ’60s electric guitar marks a welcome return for a guitar that had a limited run in the first place. The original production ended in 1961 with Gibson only making 1,700 of these instruments. That makes this edition all the more desirable. Finished in breathtaking Tri-Burst, this Les Paul Standard features a mahogany body topped with AA grade flame maple. Powered by dual Burstbuckers with period-correct orange drop caps, it’s a perfect guitar for players who want a classic Les Paul without having to pay a vintage price. Available now at Guitar Center.

Gibson Les Paul Standard ’60s Main Features

    • AA flame maple top over slab mahogany body
    • Slim taper 60’s-style mahogany neck
    • Gibson Burstbucker 61R and 61T pickups
    • Tune-o-matic bridge, aluminum stopbar tailpiece, Grover Rotomatic Kidney tuners

    Tonewoods and Finish
When it comes to mahogany bodies, Gibson has always been the king. The Original Les Paul Standard ’60s is topped with AA flame maple and finished in Tri-Burst with nitro lacquer. Tri-Burst first appeared in 1968, making this guitar’s finish period-correct.

    A Slim, Fast Neck
In the 1950s, Gibson was known for its beefy necks, known affectionately (or not) as “tree trunks” and “baseball bats.” As the new decade approached, Gibson got rid of girth to create a “slim taper” design. That’s the profile used on this Les Paul Standard electric guitar. Expect faster play without hand strain—it’s just that comfortable. The fretboard is rosewood with a Gibson-standard 12″ radius.

    Classic Sounds and Electronics
Burstbuckers replicate the holy grail tones of Gibson’s mighty PAF pickups. The 61/R and 61/T Burstbuckers in this model are made with Alnico V magnets and are wound for a classic voice with added power and top end. Hand-wired orange drop capacitors and audio taper potentiometers are another feature from the ‘60s replicated here.

    Historic Hardware
In the early ‘50s, most guitars featured wooden bridges that offered few adjustment options. Changing the string gauge could knock the guitar completely out of whack. Gibson’s tune-o-matic bridge solved this problem. The Original Les Paul Standard ‘60s features this historic game changer along with an aluminum stopbar tailpiece that allows this guitar to provide sustain for days. The Grover Rotomatic tuners have Kidney buttons with a sealed, high-ratio design for accurate tuning.

A wonderful piece for any vintage Gibson enthusiast, the Limited-Edition Les Paul Standard ’60s electric guitar offers the sound and look of old-school rock. Additional features include trapezoid fretboard inlays, gold top hat knobs with silver reflectors and a Graph Tech nut. The Gibson Limited-Edition Original Les Paul Standard ‘60s also comes with a hardshell case.Features
